Meet Kate

Welcome to Modern Alternative Pregnancy!

That’s us, at Christmas 2011.

I’m Kate, and I’m 27.  I’m married to my wonderful husband Ben, who is 27.  We’ve been married since 2006 (6 years now)!  In January 2008, we welcomed our daughter, Rebekah, who is now 4 1/2!  In July 2009, we welcomed our son, Daniel, who was born at home, and is now 3.  Then, in August 2011, we welcomed our second son, Jacob, also born at home, now 1.  We recently found out we are expecting baby #4 in March 2013!  It’s pretty busy around here!

I’ve loved to write since I was a little girl, and I always have a lot to say.  So much that I was desperate to start a blog for a long time before I actually did it (in October, 2009).  Ben encouraged me to do it, and it’s grown into what you see today!  I still have way more to say than I actually have time to write, even nearly three years in!

Modern Alternative Pregnancy began because pregnancy and birth are passions of mine, and I knew I’d have a lot to share once I was pregnant with #4.  It is just one of the sister sites in this network.  The other sites are:

I hope you will find something to enjoy on each!

I don’t just write for my own network.  I do guest posting at many other wonderful blogs (including contributing monthly to Keeper of the Home), and bi-monthly to Food…Your Way.  I’m also beginning to homeschool my older two, we are active in our church and a couple local playgroups, and in my “free” time (haha), I enjoy cooking, sewing, and other crafty things.

Through this blog you’ll get to know us even more, so jump right in!

I’m Kate, mama to 5 and wife to Ben.  I love meeting new people and hearing their stories.  I’m also a big fan of “fancy” drinks (anything but plain water counts as ‘fancy’ in my world!) and I can’t stop myself from DIY-ing everything.  I sure hope you’ll stick around so I can get to know you better!
