There’s nothing more relaxing to me than curling up on the couch while the wood stove is roaring, clutching a hot cup of tea. Well, maybe a bath with essential oils and bath salts, but still, there’s usually tea involved, too. I’m a big tea lover and use it liberally in my house to warm, soothe and heal.

Mountain Rose Herbs Tea Blends

A few weeks ago, I was excited to receive a package from Mountain Rose Herbs. I live in Oregon, a few hours from their headquarters, and I love getting products from local companies. The teas were packaged in plastic pouches with beautifully designed labels. I could see through the herbs through the bags and could tell that though these herbs were dried, they were still incredibly fresh.

I’ve purchased a few herbs from Mountain Rose Herbs, as well as some medicine cabinet supplies, but this was my first time trying their teas. I was impressed when I opened the package to see such vibrant looking herbs. Beautiful! And they smelled so good. I couldn’t wait to taste it, and my sweet husband quickly prepared some for me, steeping the herbs in our tea brewing basket. I started with the  tea, as it was morning and I thought I’d save the Dream Blend for night time.

Dream Blend

The nighttime herbal tea was good, though I could really taste the peppermint. I only like strong peppermint tea every once in a while, but it’s still been moved into my bedtime tea rotation. I love the relaxing effect. Ingredients include:

  • Organic Peppermint
  • Organic Chamomile
  • Organic Gotu Kola
  • Organic Mugwort
  • Organic Damania
  • Organic Rosemary
  • Organic Rose Petals
  • Pinch of Organic Stevia

Blossoms of Health

The flavor was good – strong and somewhat sweet. No herb seemed to stand out too much and I thought it was a very good blend. I was happy to finish the tea and enjoy a cup of it a couple times a week. Ingredients include:

  • Organic Red Clover Herb
  • Organic Nettle Leaf
  • Organic Ginkgo
  • Organic Red Clover Blossoms
  • Organic Meadowsweet Herb
  • Organic Calendula
  • Organic Gotu Kola
  • Organic Lavender
  • Organic Chamomile
  • Pinch of Organic Stevia

Overall Impression

Now that I’ve tried these two tea blends, I look forward to trying more. I was very impressed with the freshness and vibrancy of the herbs as well as the flavors of the blends. My favorite was the Blossoms of Health blend. I liked the Dream Blend, but I’m not the biggest fan of peppermint in my tea (I’ve got to be in the mood for it), so I’ve used more of the other blend. That said, I do like the relaxing effect the Dream Blend has and enjoy it before bed when I’m in the mood for some mint.

I’m very pleased with these teas and highly recommend them.

Have you tried any of the teas from Mountain Rose Herbs? Which ones would you like to try?
